Welcome to Loving Hands Preschool! An important member of your family is about to discover the exciting life of a preschooler. I look forward to working with you and getting to know your child this year! My name is Jenny Cuffman and I will be your child's teacher. Your little one can call me Miss Jenny. I am married and have three children of my own. Alyssa is 17 years old and a senior, Brittany is 15 years old and is a sophomore, both at Lake High School and my son Tyler is 13 years old and a 7th grader at Lake Middle School. As you can imagine, they all keep me very busy! Robin DePew (Miss Robin) will also be in our room every day to help. She too is married and has two daughters; Sophia who is a 2nd grader and Lauren who is in 4th grade, both here in Green schools! This will be Miss Robin's second year at Loving Hands Preschool and I have to say we are a good team! I feel blessed to have her as a co-worker and a friend.
By now you should have received some state forms that need to be completed and returned to school as soon as possible. The medical form is due at the end of the month. Medical forms are only good for one year from the date of the appointment. So, if your child's check up is done early in the year you will need to have another check up and new form signed on that date. No child will be permitted to stay without the emergency form completed. Thank you for your cooperation with the necessary paperwork. If you have misplaced any forms, they may be downloaded from our website which is www.loving-hands.org. This is a very informative and useful website regarding classroom happenings. Please feel free to check it out frequently.
Preschool tuition payments are to be dropped off in the main office. Checks will be credited on the day received and not the date written on the check.
During our preschool day we will explore, discover, create, sing, read stories and learn how to get along with others. We will become adjusted to our room, our teachers, and our new friends. Believe it or not we will even learn how to walk in a line, use indoor voices and take turns! Every week we have a new theme to explore and every month we will learn a new color and shape. We are a very busy classroom!
We will also go outside on the playground, weather permitting. Please label all of your child's outerwear; coat, hat, gloves, etc. and put sunscreen on your child before school if needed.
You will receive a newsletter and a calendar with events for the month written on it. Please keep track of your calendar. It will list everything you need to know for the month. Your child's special helper day will also be on the calendar. On this day your child will sit in the rocking chair during circle time and be my special helper. They will help with the calendar, give the weather report, hold the flag for the Pledge of Allegiance and be the line leader. On their special helper day, your child may bring in a special toy, book or another item of interest to share with the class. Please do not send valuables to school and limit it to one item! No toys with guns or other weapons are ever allowed in preschool.
Each child needs to bring their own snack and set it by their name in the hallway every day. Please keep in mind that this is not a lunch, just a small snack! This year we have a student in the school with a severe allergy to nuts. It is important that Loving Hands Preschool provides a safe environment for all of our friends. Therefore, we are now a nut free building! Please check all labels before packing your child's snack and make sure they do not contain any peanuts or tree nuts. If in doubt, please ask!
Some popular preschool snacks are cheese, grapes, raisins, yogurt, applesauce and carrot sticks. Please provide a napkin and a drink of 100% juice, milk or water if you would prefer. It may be fun for your little one to be able to get a lunch box to carry their snack in (please put their name on the lunch box).
Birthdays are special, so we'll celebrate everyone's birthday even if it falls on a day we aren't in class or if it's in the summer. Birthdays that fall during the school year will be celebrated on the class day closest to the child's birthday. We will celebrate summer birthdays during the month of May. We will celebrate in the classroom with a birthday sticker and a chorus of "Happy Birthday to You". In an effort to be fair to all of our little ones, no snack time parties will be allowed. You may send in treat bags to be handed out at the end of class if you would like. No homemade food items will be allowed due to children having allergies. Only individual, prepackaged, nut free items are allowed. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Remember it is perfectly normal for your child to experience some anxiety during the first few weeks of school. To help your child adjust, keep good-byes short and sweet. Be sure to let your child know exactly where you will be while they are school and exactly who will be picking him/her up after we sing the good-bye song. We will handle the rest by providing a safe and loving environment for your child.
I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child this school year! I have many fun learning activities planned and can't wait to get started on another great year! If at any time you have any questions, comments or concerns please don't hesitate to see me before or after class. If this is not convenient, you may call the church office starting at 8:00 a.m. and ask to speak to me. If you would prefer to communicate via email, my home email address is cufffive@neo.rr.com. I do check my email every morning and evening.
Sincerely,
Miss Jenny and Miss Robin
